Ice cream is a way of life in our house. Any and every ice cream holiday is celebrated with enthusiasm. For Banana Split Day this year, we decided to venture away from the norm. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE a traditional banana split (who doesn't). It was time for a change.
We went tropical with some caramelized bananas and mangoes, some coconut ice cream, and buttered rum and pineapple sauces. We couldn't skip the whipped cream, toasted coconuts, roasted hazelnuts and some Luxardo cherries. To say this was divine is an understatement.
Alan fell into a deep food coma without sharing his coconut ice cream recipe so I will be adding it to the blog later today.
